Running socks...size=fail

6/24/2014

Obviously I have not updated in a bit...lots of project progress lately, though!

I completed my first 5k several weeks ago (yay!), but it was so hot I walked about half of it (not-so-yay).  Final time was 36:02.

The Frankenwarp washcloth warp was completely woven off two weeks ago.  I even hemmed the washclothes, washed them, and we have been using them for about a week and a half now.  They are great!

I then wove up a little huck lace sampler, inspired by Weever Woman's lovely draft.  Just one repeat wide, it was a 1.5 yard long x 8" wide warp
.  Interesting results, not quite what I was going for with the yarn I used, but I'll keep the scrap in my crazy quilt pile.

Also finished my sweater, and somehow managed to have almost 3 skeins of yarn leftover (out of 6...and the sweater was expected to take nearly 6).  The sweater fits perfectly.  Extra yarn is a pleasant surprise, so I am using the leftovers for a Summer Love Wrap.  Great pattern, easy to memorize repeat.  If it ends up a tad too short for a wrap I will seam the ends together for a nice cushy cowl.

The mailman delivered an exciting box today
: 9 skeins of KnitPicks stroll tonal, 3 each of three different colorways.  They will become warp for three herringbone twill woven stoles, commissioned by a coworker for Christmas gifts.  Should have time this week to wind the warps while waiting for my grey 8/2 tencel weft to arrive.

I also have several skeins of Berroco Comfort DK coming to be turned into a Snorkedress for a little one who will be making his appearance this fall (my sister & brother-in-law are expecting their first!).  Yes, there are English directions available, but how can one resist saying "snorkedress?"

Oh, about those running socks?  They are done, and ended up being about 1/2" too short for my feet.  Figures!  At least my house does have a set of smaller feet that can inherit them.  Let's just pretend that was an unselfish knitting project, okay?  ;)
