My first PJ pants were such a success that I wanted to make more. Plenty of vintage sheets still in my stash, I made some slight tweaks to my pattern (lowered the front rise, raised the back rise, cut out some of the thigh poochiness), and stitched away. Very happy with this second pair, and they were completed in a single afternoon! The waistband on my first pair was better, as I stitched the elastic directly to the fabric (no rolling/twisting inside a casing). I will definitely do that in the future. I plan to go back and stitch through the casing and elastic on this pair, too, as twisted elastic is uncomfortable to wear.
I have some lovely, soft, colorfully striped yardage my sister gave me quite a while ago that I want to make into PJ pants. The vintage sheet practice has been great; I may make one more sheet-fabric pair before cutting into my striped yardage. Funny side note: my parents had waterbed sheets in this exact same print when I was a little girl. Seeing it brings back fun memories of me playing boat (not without scoldings for doing so) on the waterbed... :) More to come! Comments are closed.
